From Aug to Oct this year we will be electing a new PPC. The PPC is a forum of parish representatives that collaborates with the parish priest in the mission of the parish which is the mission of the church. The election process includes: (1) Awareness; (2) Nominations; (3) Voting ; (4) Counting votes and setting up new PPC. Just as with the election of Pope Leo XIV, this process invites the Holy Spirit to guide us so that we may enjoy the fruits of a discerning and spiritual process – “towards white smoke in our parishes”.
A PPC has many people who work very hard for the parish behind the scenes. Generally there are 7 portfolios into which all parish activities fall: (1) LITURGY: worship; (2) FAITH FORMATION: for adults and Catechism; (3) YOUTH & YOUNG ADULTS: nurturing the young, our future; (4) EVANGELISATION: being an invitational and missionary church; (5) PARISH COMMUNITY BUILDING: building true community; (6) COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: outreach and charity works, environment, migrants & refugees, Justice & Peace; (7) MARRIAGE & FAMILY: supporting families.
